The text “Whatever Next?: The Curriculum Scaffold” is 300+pp curriculum implementation resource. This resource includes the unpacking of the framework and provides schools a scaffold which will save them 100’s of hours of work. The scaffold provides a systematic process for implementing the new curriculum in your school while allowing schools the ability to customise the curriculum to meet their local needs. The package includes an unpacking of the learning areas and competencies which provides increased clarity and detail around the implications of these for schools. 

The implementation of a new curriculum requires a considerable amount of work and for many schools knowing where to start and how to progress the development of a new curriculum is a considerable challenge.  In this resource Mark Treadwell has produced a scaffold for the curriculum framework based on identifying the core concepts within each of the learning areas as well as each of the competencies.  The learning areas and competencies has been unpacked across their developmental levels based on the cognitive development of the learner.  Schools can use this scaffold to identify the contexts they would then apply these concepts to and then identify the content which would underpin the development of understanding around each of the concepts.

The resource also includes:

1. A framework which shows the interrelationships between the main elements of the curriculum framework document
2. An unpacking of the “values” and “principles” section under the heading of “principles and character
3. Directions on building units of work using this scaffold

The “Whatever Next” text is available now as an MS Word file on a CD or can be downloaded from this web site. This curriuculum concept scaffold can be used to develop a school wide curriculum framework. We provide this as a site based licence for schools wishing to pursue this approach. The one-off cost for a site license will vary according to school size and the cost is outlined in the table below:
